God's Debris: Book Review

Succesfully I have finished one more book. And honestly, I don't know whether it is a good book or a bad book!!! I had heard of God's Debris thro' one of my friends, had downloaded it from the net long time back but never read it. Then, a fortnight back I met with the same friend's brother & he was talking highly of the book. This time I decided that I will not stop at just downloading the book but also would go on to finish it. Here I am, successful at that venture.

Now, about the book itself. This book is by Scott Adams, the 'Creator' of the popular comic strip character 'Dilbert'. If you have seen/read any of the books of Scott Adams, it is easy for one to assume that it will never be possible for him to write on a serious note & that too on a serious subject like God. But that is exactly what he does in this book. He takes up the serious subject of God, religion, people, their delusions & looks at those in his own humorous yet thought provoking way.

Ironically, the name of the protagonist in this book is 'Avatar'. His encounter with a person, his questions & explanations to various questions posed by the second person forms the crux of the book. The book does not have a storyline per se & it drifts from one question to the other. This is the strength as well as the weakness of the book. If you are a person who is interested in reading a book with a strong plot, you will be slightly disappointed. If, to the contrary, you are a person who is fine with reading an interesting book with no specific plot, this book will be something that you can't keep down without finishing it. The best part of the book is when the protagonist makes fun at a lot of the common 'Beliefs' that we people have.

There are a lot of 'One-liners' that I loved in the book. This one takes the top prize.

"Awareness is about unlearning. It is the recognition that you don’t know as much as you thought you knew"

Bottom line: Whether you love this book, admonish it as one useless piece of junk, praise it as the best book or put it down as one of the worst book ever written, DO NOT leave it unread. This is one 'MUST' read for anyone who believes that the top of their head is not empty!!!!!
